Chacos Park Master Plan

CHACOS PARK SCHEMATIC MASTER PLAN PROJECT GOAL:

To develop a schematic master plan for Chacos Park, that reinforces community connection and vitality, for the Town of Carbondale, CO. In support of the Chacos Family and creative spirit of the Town, a wide range of programmatic and passive use opportunities will be explored, resulting in a seasonally resilient, highly functional, and timeless social heartbeat in the core of Carbondale.

PROJECT PRIORITIES:

Focus on creating a multi-functional + innovative design approach to balance daily uses with event programming.

Maximize central lawn/flexible green space.

Improve park comfort through increased shade + seating.

Create a meaningful connection with 4th Street Plaza that reinforces pedestrian safety and multi-modal circulation.

Prioritize a welcoming space for residents, families, + visitors.

Provide garden areas for planting/green improvements.

Represent Carbondale’s creative character while establishing an aesthetic social and physical heart for Downtown Carbondale.

Update park infrastructure and accessibility.

Honor the Chacos legacy through urban greening, garden improvements, and Downtown beautification.
